As for myself, I don't go to wal-mart,,,, I will pay more at another store to keep from shopping there. I don't know anything about their layaways.

I have never used layaway at any store, let alone Walmart. If I cannot afford to buy the item, then I have to question whether or not I really need it? Why not put your money into a savings plan to get interest that can help you pay for the items in cash? Layaway is a service that actually costs them in additional labor and record keeping so by doing away with it could actually reduce the overall costs for all consumers. From a business standpoint, it makes sense for them to do away with layaway. Why not get a credit card with zero interest???

Does boycotting work - not usually, although I remember in the 70's we boycotted sugar, and that one actually worked.

They stopped a policy, and you don't agree with them, then go to Kmart, I think they still have layaway. But I can't think of any other stores that have layaway - it is labor intensive, and too many people use layaway waiting for a sale, and then when the item goes on sale, they get to buy it at that price and have a lock on it (because it wasn't in inventory).

Why think of the extra cost it takes, Don't get picked up and paid for then most items they put back at a discount so they can't make a profit then raises prices on other items. Business 101 Unions and uninformed of course speak out no matter what against Wal-Mart. Good little Democratic and union people.

I am a truck driver and yesterday I pulled into a wal-mart on Gerogesville Rd in Col. Oh bobtailing, that is to say without a trailer and their security told me I could'nt park their, but after I told him I would never shop at wal-mart again he said I could and I told him forget it, too damn late now. I am begining to hate security people in shoping centers because they hate truck drivers and their not too bright!

No because customers don't always come back and pick up their items right away. They are better off having plenty of cashiers at the front registers.
