Seriously. Look at this post:

As a gay guy myself, this post really bugs me and bothers me. Basically, the person who posts this question wants to change his son sexuality (from gay to straight) through testosterone. But is it possible? From what I know, testosterone will increase male characteristics, such as deepening the voice. It will also led to more violent behavior. But will it work? If it does, what is the success rate? But i seriously doubt it will do the work.

It won't work...it'll probably make him want to have sex more often and maybe do damage to his liver and other organs..but I don't know.....the post is really sad because this man has just lost his son for good (sounds pretty irrepairable to me)...there are no winners in this one.

homosexuals and transexuals are two different things. If the person is a transexual, the only thing testosterone will do will affect the appearance of the body, more body hair, deepen voice, sweat more, etc.
That person's father obviously doesn't know very much about biology, gender, or human sexuality. *sigh*
Think about it, the greeks practiced cultural homosexuality. It was a very masculine thing. The feminization of gay men has more to do with [gay] cultural beauty standards.
I would like to add, violence and sexual agression are cultural problems, not testosterone problems. the Gerai people of the Dynak have no occurences of rape because their cultural beliefs about bodies and community.
1) Testosterone does not create aggression.
2) Aggression can increase levels of testosterone.
3) Testosterone can exagerate aggression, because testosterone shortens the resting time between action potentials in the stria termina.

I'm straight, but I think it is stupid idea. The guy should just accept his son is gay or leave the kid alone. I agree, testosterone would increase violent and sexual actions, which would be sooo much better right? A guy who rapes and beats his wife and kids or a gay guy.

You may be able to change outward behavious for a little while but eventually he would revert back to himself anyway ...its a pretty cruel thing to do to someone it didnt work in the 50s why would it work any better now.
Regardless of why people are gay, lesbian, or bisexual, it is now clear that people do not "choose" to be homosexual or bisexual. Even if people do not have sexual experiences until they are adults, their sexual orientation is determined early in life. This means that whether a person is sexually abused as a child has no bearing on whether he or she will be gay, lesbian, or bisexual. While some people who identify themselves as gay, lesbian, or bisexual have been sexually abused as children, there are also many heterosexual adults who were abused as children.
Similarly, it does not appear that sexual orientation can be changed or altered. Whether through psychotherapy, religious experiences, or other means, there is virtually no likelihood that one's sexual orientation can be permanently changed. While our sexual behavior may be quite variable, orientation is more stable. A heterosexual person can no more be "changed" to be homosexual than a gay or lesbian person can be "made" heterosexual. Psychotherapies or religious organizations that claim to change sexual orientation focus on changing sexual behavior, not sexual orientation. Gay, lesbian, and bisexual people can best be helped by accepting who they are, rather than trying to change who they are.

I saw a strange show about it once where the women on testosterone treatment said they started to behave more aggressively, like men. Women become more "manly"in their business attitudes and in their sexual feelings.
Still a pity a man can not accept his son as the person he is.

There are SOME cases of transfolk who's hormones mess with who they find attractive. It's definitely not a science though, and I don't know if the same thing happens if you give an XY male testosterone.

The question really is "Does he want to be changed?" It don't matter one bit if it works or not!! I have yet to meet a gay person who would jump at the chance to take any drug that promised to turn them straight - and oddly enough, I have had this conversation with many of them before!

I seriously doubt could do anything to his sexuality because it's all in the mind. If anything could change it would be hypnotherapy but that'd only work if the person wanted it. the mind is very powerful and I believe that it can do anything it wants if you just tap into your subconscious. I'm a transsexual myself and I know what it's like to be persecuted and to be told to change my habits and beliefs but as much as I tired I never really wanted to. So basically unless you really want to change your habits/ lifestyle, weather it's being gay or trying to change your sex from male to female, no one can do anything to change it for you.

NO, simply stated. Horomone and pheromone research in changing sexuality has been going on since the mid 80's, nothing has changed.
