yup, finally brought myself to watch it this afternoon on HBO.
Great documentary..... I'm out of Kleenex..
What did you think?
If you're going to be rude, insensitive or just plain ignorant ( like I've seen on this forum about matters of Katrina) then please do us all a favor and pick another question.

I thought it was the saddest thing I've ever seen. And it still looks sad. I worked in Pet Rescue after the storm and it was awful. So many people and animals lost their lives.

I really was glad that I watched it. It reminded me that Katrina was a major disaster of epic proportions! seriously though! I have heard a lot about Katrina on the news, but it never passed through my mind or should I say I couldn't even fathom the pain and suffering that these people went through till I watched the documentary. It also goes to show how ****** up Bush is and our government, not that it isn't obvious already
Oh and another thing... The people being so rude and thoughtless... You are nothing but ignorant! wow there are a lot of cold hearted and senseless people in this world... that's why it is such a ****** up place... anyone else agree with me?

I was stunned, but not a bit surprised. I'm amazed it hasn't happened before. Galveston got hit around 1900. At an average elevation of 5 feet, it got virtually wiped off of the face of the Earth with nearly 7000 dead. NO was BELOW sea level, not even 5' above sea level! They actually had pumps constantly pumping out the lower parts of the city for decades as the city sank a little more each year from compaction of sediments and displacement.
I expected the casualties to be high, unfortunately.

Katrina was a huge disaster for sure. I live where the tsunami hit and saw what that did to people. Crying does not accomplish anything. Getting out there and helping is what it takes. Such events do happen and will continue to happen. When people choose to live in harms way they most likely will eventually be the victim. Blaming others after the fact is pointless as well. Do what we can to help when it does happen is the best anyone can do. There will be more such events.

Well I'm not being rude or ignorant nor irascible. When the levees broke I could visualize my condo floating away. I live very close to the Pontchartrain. My gut instinct is that the levees weren't built to withstand that additional water brought into the lower parishes. But I'm not going to denigrate anyone. All of us know that Louisiana has its corrupt officials...that's nothing new.
I would lay off the documentaries and just come see for yourself.

Daliah, when the levees broke in New Orleans...I cried for all of the people.
Katrina was devastating to many people.
I wanted to jump in my car and go down there, but I came to my senses because I would have been allowed to go in to the areas that needed most help, run out of gas or not been able to come home. (I also would have lost my job)
I could not believe how slow our country (President) was to send help.
