I never hear about Healthcare on the news. Iraq Iraq War on terror blah blah, if I or my kid gets sick, we won't be around to hear about Iraq having a democracy.

Very excellent question and good to see someone checks their facts. I didn't realize it was 45 million until this was discussed last week on PBS's The Newshour. Thank you for being accurate.

Irregardless of how ppl feel about how to obtain health-care, your question is stating a very good point,
'WHY ARE WE NOT SEEKING A SOLUTION but rather ALL WE ARE TALKING ABOUT IS IRAQ'

The answer is so obvious that it is sickening = it is an election year and the Republicans don't want to discuss failures. It really is that simple unfortunately.

As far as a few comments I read from the other answerer's:

1. You can't just walk into a hospital and get continued care products. Like if you are a diabetic, you can't go to the ER everyday and get an insulin shot. Sure you can go if you break your leg, but it is insane to think being able to go to the ER is a solution.

2. A few said to get a job. To those I only wish that you break both legs and are rendered paralyzed from the waste down. Obviously you have no clue that a lot of jobs do not offer health-care. Do you really think that 45 MILLION ppl don't have jobs?

Comments like the Republican response I read here make me ashamed to be an American.

Because Republicans simply don't care about anyone who is not as well off as they are. And the poor Republicans are just deluded right wingers who dont' realize their party doesn't give a fig for them.

Republicans are still fighting the fight fought 100 years ago over unrestrained capitalism and regulated capitalism. The regulators won, or so they thought, but the Republicans have come back in the last 50 years and are still trying to undo it all--everything from Social Security to Minimum Wages (New Deal Era Programs) to Work Hours regulations and the income tax (Progressive Era reforms).

If you are an officer of Haliburton, a Director of the Carlisle Group, own an oil company (or at least have a tanker named after you), they care about you. Otherwise, you're on your own.

And before anybody pounces on this, Democrats aren't really any better....Fat cats like Kennedy just learned the vocabulary...they still just take care of their own too and then give away to others what they don't own, leaving us to clean up the mess afterwards...

What kind of healthcare? Free? Not going to happen. Free healthcare would shoot our already huge deficit into the stratosphere. It would hike our taxes another 10 to 20% and then we would get the Minimum necessary healthcare required. Load of crap.

Would you rather be cared for by a doctor who takes pride in his work and drives on customer care in order to maintain his customer base or would you like to have a doctor that is getting paid the same no matter what? Dosn't care if you die, or if you get better. He only gets paid one salary, so you are just a statistic...

I think you should think about the alternative....get some healthcare.

You usually won't hear about real plans to fix healthcare, the environment, or education from a Republican. Maybe a few, but overall plans usually aren't talked about be the Republican Party.

I could really care less about Iraq. They're not America, and whatever happens over there won't directly affect me. If the government would have pumped HALF of what they've spent on Iraq into a domestic issue, such as fixing healthcare, we might have some results.

They really don't care that much about the children of the USA, the working poor, the mentally handicapped, the elderly. And I'm not necessarily stating that you fit into any of the above groups, I'm just telling it like I see it.

Where is your links or proof that there are 45 million
uninsured people in this country. In the mean time check back about 8 to 10 years ago and it seems like there was about 15 million people who were having trouble getting insurance, but I think that was taken care later.

Because republicans believe that you should better yourself. Do you want the government to decide what health care you will get? If someone gives you something you will always expect them to give you more when you use or destroy what you were given. A hand out will not help you as much as a hand up (opportunities).

Where are they??? I don't know anyone who is uninsured, you can walk into any hospital in the country and get treated, they can't turn you away and we pay the bills.......and every child in this country has health coverage and again for those who can't pay, we do.

You libs are sickening....I need to use my coverage now.

Because Insurance is available to those 45 millions, the loosers just need to get a job. Oh by the way, those are available too....

Some do, but only to point out that there aren't 45 million CHRONICALLY uninsured. Most of the people in that statistic are TEMPORARILY uninsured.
