This is partially possible using remote assistance with XP. However, if the computer can't get online, then the person helping wouldn't be able to get to the computer remotely.

Logmein.com has software like this that allows a helpdesk person to remotely fix a computer just by going to a web page, but the internet access problem is still there, which is a lot of the calls I get. Like I said, you can't help them remotely if they can't get online in the first place.

No.

Remote fixes are only good for software and driver corrections. It won't matter with hardware problems. That has to be checked in person.

It also can complicate system security, and online, that's a real danger (in XP, you have to log out while they log in, and you can't watch what they're doing to your system. Customized computers can get trashed quickly -- no, no, no).
