Ok first of all 512mb ram is not enough for 3.1gig You proberly want to upgrade there maybe dual 1024mb other than that you r doing pretty well unless you plan to play lots of games and Dvd's stored one the big hard drive..

If it's for light computer work (word processing, internet surfing, and emailing) it will do. For anything else, be it even video editing, it's seriously underpowered due to this...
1. Sempron=Celeron. It's half of a AMD 64 or P4 processor.
2. 512MB of memory will barely play newer games, and at the lowest settings.
3. Still need a floppy drive. System backup disks are your friend, and friendlier than a scratched CD. USB floppy version with a Celeron is like running a camera on a serial port -- s-l-o-w.

Cheap low end computer. Don't expect more than 2 years of useful service from this computer It is slow now and will crawl by the time Vista is out

It's decent enough for basic uses (web browsing, etc.).
You can get a new computer with a slightly better processor for around $300 or less, so I hope you didn't pay much for that.
