The same thing will happen here in Mexico beginning December 1st.
The PAN party (extreme right-winged) has a majority in Congress (Legislative), the Presidency (Executive) and since the President selects the Attorney General and proposes candidates for the justices of the Supreme Court, it also controls in a way, the Judicial power.

Gosh, I thought you'd never ask. In the last few weeks, political demographics have shown that the Dems are literally losing power on a permanent basis. 100 lieberals have an average of 147 kids. 100 conservatives have an average of 208 kids.
Since 80+% of kids share their parents political views, even a lieberal should understand that the Dems are soon going to be out of the picture. Projections show that by the year 2020, the blue states are all going to be red.
Guess which party stands for abortion rights? Guess which party is thus more likely to have an abortion? Roe v. Wade was created out of no where by the US Supreme Court in 1973. Exactly 21 years later, the legislature changed to Republican for the first time in many decades. This is the year the Dem's kids who were killed would have reached adulthood.
Good job, Dems, killing yourselves like that. Keep up the good work.
Of course, to be totally serious, as much as I dislike lieberals, we really need two strong political parties, to keep extremists from being to extreme. So, it is probably not good for the nation that you lieberals have murdered so many kids. But, it is a perfect example of justice at your own hands.

It feels like you help a really large, controlling centralized authorities entity which will provide your straightforward needs for you and in turn ask not something more effective than to proceed to save democratic politicians in skill at the same time with your vote. If GOP held all 3 branches for the subsequent two decades, the perfect length of authorities might want to shrink and the loose marketplace might want to advance.

Power corrupts - democracy works but works slowly
They will (already have) become corrupt - both oridinary corruption and the attendent power-grabbing that citizens don't like.
They are getting caught. Now the pendulum will swing the other way, and the ever virtuous democrats may even get all 3 branches in their hands again.
Then you'll get the same thing in reverse, just with different rhetoric and goals from the party in power.
Second option happens sometimes - the party in power schisms, perhaps in this case to "moderates" and "conservatives". Unfortunately, I don't see room for moderates in my party any more.

My guess is that they'll split into two parties. It's happened before. The Democrats haven't been much of a force to be reckoned with lately, but it seems to be built into the government that we always have two strong parties. Republicans don't all agree. I'm waiting for the traditional republicans to start wearing t shirts that say "I'm not with them" and an arrow pointing to the nearest neoconservative (the freaky god mongers.) Anyway, that's my guess.

THEY'RE GOING TO DISNEYLAND!
But seriously, if the Dems keep blowing these elections they may fade away. I agree that a weakened Dem party could cause a schism in the Republican party.
Which I would like. The spending is just too high. We need a Gov't that will reduce the pork for a while (I won't fantasize about actually stopping it...too much to ask).

The Republicans have shown Americans their Fascist intentions all ready. America really isn't siding up with the failures of policies, so I see a landslide to remove them from power in November. Bush will have to become accountable for his actions then.

hopefully not disrupt the separation of powers. although Bush apparently thinks he has all the power of a dictator, and shown by this site:
http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2006/04/30/bush_challenges_hundreds_of_laws/
i fear for the separation of powers, which helps keep this nation as a democracy. but he will be gone in 2 years luckily. and most likely democrats voted into congress in 2 months.
