I work in the entertainment field and we had Madonna and Mariah Carey do concerts in my hometown a couple days apart. Both wanted $400-plus for choice seats. My question is... is any artist worth paying that much for? Concerts are great and all but $00-plus for one seat and 2 hours of live music. Is it worth it. And if so, who would you see for that amount of money?

Some of you guys have great points. And as far as Jimi, Miles and Nirvana are concerned... I might have to reconsider... especially if Jimi was still around.

I'm a stage manager for a concert venue in NJ. We see a lot of concerts... most good, others (like Mariah's show) bad. But Elton John is our next show and he's asking for $400-$500 for the first 10 rows. Crazy.

There's no way in hell I would pay that much to see a show!! Most shows are $20-$30 or so. The most expensive ticket I've had was for Ozzfest. VIP seats for about $106...but it was bought for me. Personally...I wouldn't pay more that $50 to see a show...and it would have to be someone I REALLY wanted to see! And as of this moment...I can't even think of anyone I'd pay that much to see. I know a couple people that paid $400 to see Madonna...that's just insanity! I better be on stage with her AND hanging out backstage with her if I paid that much! No way would I pay $400 just to sit in a seat and see her on stage. No offense to Madonna what so ever!!

Elton John's Red Piano Show is definately worth $400+. I saw it in October of 2005 and it was over 2 and 1/2 hours long, almost 3 hours. It was Fantastic...you can probably tell that I am a big fan??

Well I'm kind of in a high class environment (i.e. school, community) and many people would pay maybe double that to meet Hilary Duff (who I would say doesn't have very much of a talent as stardom, no offense). I know some people in my school would definitely pay that to see Mariah Carey (who is my fav singer) and Madonna (who's a legend). I think people would pay that much to see Michael Jackson (he has a lot of publicity) and definitly award shows (i.e. MMVA's, Emmys etc.) I think some artists are too full of themselves so they think their performance is worth a lot but it's kind of taking a risk, as in 400$ means either nobdoy will come or everybody will be there and you'll make lots of money. So..there's your answer.
P.S.: What area of ent do you work in?

No it is not worth it. Go figure, you have a lady friend, right? So now it is $800 you are talking about for two tickets. Get outta here... $800, and you can buy some new Mag Wheels.

As to where to go for the money. Gather up five, ten, or twenty bucks and go to the local grocery and buy some of those new Lotto tickets. Hit is big just one time and you are fixed. Shoot, you can buy the whole front row of seats.

None....that's asinine. Anyone who would pay that much has more money than sense! There are a lot of artists I'd to see in concert, but not bad enough to pay that much for a ticket!!

I just read the other answers and I can't believe someone said they'd pay that much to see Green Day!! I saw Green Day in concert, paid only $15 and sat in the front row!!

I would pay that much if it were on stage seats and a backstage pass. Maybe bands like No-doubt, Metallica, with these options.
Maybe in a Vip Club where your a limited audience like 50 people right close and personal.
But just choice seats no way.

I would absolutely never pay that much. I got into a day-long concert for under $30 and saw over 20 bands, many of which were very good.

nicely i'm british so i recognize how 1D all began, they are alluring boys and singers and make large track yet $1400 is plenty to pay, i might want to assert it relies upon on how a lot you want them in spite of the actual undeniable reality that it style of feels abit of a rip off even as over the following there develop right into a excursion and the tickets were £30 :L guess it in basic terms relies upon on how a lot funds you've and how a lot you want them xxx

No, it's not worth it at all. With $400 I can buy quite a few groceries and still have enough left over for a dinner for two.
