I have been planning to go into Childcare because it seems there will be plenty of jobs in that area in the near future. I can't afford to take too long to train, so it needs to be a sector I can get into with a TAFE course.

What do you think are the sectors with the most opportunity?

Childcare would be a good career path. I think that Australia is going to have a desperate need for properly trained carers (well we already do!) in the next few years. Then, you can also go on to become a teacher or some such.

A friend of mine who works for the Department of Fair Trading told me that the big boom in the next decade or so is going to be employment law, with people suing employers etc thanks to WorkChoices.

It would depend on your level of formal education. But, ANYTHING in the medical field is wide open anything from doctor's & nurses (of course),to live-in caretakers, receptionest, medical transcriptionest, reasurchers & interviewers to gather information for them, & more.

There is also a big demand for ANYTHING in the computer field. Most everything is computerized today.
