That's the Declaration of Independence. Which has about the same legal authority as a birthday card.

The Constitution guarantees our rights, and the courts ensure them.

But in truth, we only have those rights we choose to defend. Only those rights we can defend. And when we choose to surrender those rights, especially to the government which was instituted to secure them, then we have given up our rights to the government.
