Come on, really? Do you want to be the one who has to begin the cleanup of the current administration? The fallout from this administration will be directly blamed on the next one to come. That will take many years to correct. I've considered running myself, but I lack the funds, and don't know very many that are rich, and view life as I do. A person could run for less than 500 million $$. Most of the money used to run is wasted on non-essentials to bribe people for votes, then when elected, ignore you, or take your rights away gradually. Much is wasted to smear the other guy to sway the vote to your side.
Dare to be different. You could get a lot of votes, with an honest, clean campaign. Can you remember a time when, the opponents did not have to rely on digging up crap on the other guy?
Have a clear, well planned, platform to build on, not just new policies, or rhetoric. Avoid telling everyone that you are going to solve all the problems facing the USA today, it can't be done in one, or two presidential elections, maybe ever.
However, if you feel it is your duty, calling, go for it! Restore nobility to the title of President. Make us again the proud nation we once were. A people who can proudly hold our heads up with pride.
Good luck in your endeavors.

Suggestions:
Internet fraud
Identity Theft (Bill Gates would be a rather decent one)
Hijacking an armor truck (full one)
Hold up a bank
Kidnap the current president (PLEASE!!)
Prostitution
Head to Vegas - let it ride
Just kidding. What you need to do is gain some political "experience" - as in holding a congressional seat, being an advisor for some very strong politicians, and do a lot of @$$ kissing of a lot of the rich people. And you need to do a lot of fund raising (best to hire people do handle all of this). You would have to do a lot of work, and do a lot of cold calling for some donations, but evidentally it is possible.
By the way - it is also beneficial to have a wealthy family. Not necessary, but very helpful.

Personally, someone who doesn't have that kind of money would appeal to me more than someone who does.
