Democracy means more than fair elections that represent the will of the ppl.
There are many definitions of democracy. When referring to democracy, political culture is so important.
Aspects of Democracy
- Popular will, Rule by the ppl
- Equal citizenship rights
- Social contract among the ppl
- Popular rule express and encourage to autonomy
- Consist of moral compromise
- Participation, election, liberties, check & balances
There aresix types of democracy:
1-Deliberative democracy
Deliberative democracy offers an answer that integrates the populist and liberal ideas in order to dicuss an issue and find a solution; therefore, ıt encourages public deliberation on issues that are best understood through open , delibarete processes. It guarantees, that while popular will express their will, it also gives the minority opportunites to express their feelings; therefore, ıt prevents minority rights from the majority tyranny.
2- Populist democracy or Popular will:
- Free speech, press & assocation necessary for political freedom
- The rule of law , arbitary will of public officials
- Formal voling equality
3- Lıberal democracy
Basic idea of freedom and equality for all human beings:
- freedom of speech, press, assocation and religion
- right to property, freedom to vote,
- hold public office and arbitary arrest.
Liberal democracy criticizes tyrany of popular will; therefore, ıt encourages individuals... individuals rather than whole. So, liberal democracy underlines check & balances and seperation of power for liberty.
4- Participation democracy - also known as Direct Democracy
Offers greater opportunities for citizens to participate directly in politics rather than indirectly; therefore, it is called direct democracy. Each individual may challenge legislation or any amendment. Switzerland currently has the only Direct Democracy in the world.
5- Social democracy
Brings democracy into public life, especially, concerning the family. IE, women and children rights in family, support family income in order to grow healthy children such as establishing child care centers. Also, ıt gives democratic rights for workers. Workers have a right to participate in industry decisions. Some might say that a social democracy is a welfare state democracy.
6- Schumpeterian democracy
Democracy as an institutional arrangement for arriving at political decisions in which individuals acquire the power to decide by means of competitive struggle for ppl’s vote.

Democracy is a concept, where the ultimate political power is held by the population.
There are many different implementations of democracy, from a pure popular democracy, where everybody votes on every issue, to a representative republic, where people elect officials to make decisions for them. All are part of the democratic spectrum.

No, there are varying degrees of democracy. Democracy means serving the interests of the masses. It depends on how much freedom is allowed by the representatives who make the rules and the laws. It can be very liberal, moderately liberal or very conservative (depending upon who is doing the interpretation of the constitution).

yes .......... my kind. all other types are fake. they only wants to weaken America so that terrorist can strike. there is only one type of democracy and that is my type. either you are with me or you are a freak-in terrorist lover. America don't need any other type of democracy except the republican kind. only the republican can make America strong. either you are a republican or you are a yellow belly Muslim lover. America is a democratic countries, therefore you have no other choice than to vote republican. come to think of it.........why is there a need to vote?
