Even here in zone 5, there's still time for the short season greens. It's still possible to plant leaf lettuces, cale, collards, chard for a couple of weeks here. You've got longer if you take the advice of the cold frame and cloche set!

You can plant turnips, collards, mustard, lettuce, and similiar cool-weather plants. Just keep an eye on the temps. If it begins to get too cool/cold, use a cold frame or a cloche. A cloch is simply a soda bottle, milk jug, etc., that you put over individual plants to protect them from wind and extreme temps. In theory you can garden all year this way, by compensating for temps.

It depends on in what part of the country you are. Here in SoCal, Autumn is the best time to plant leafy greens; lettuce, spinach, broccoli, beets, cauliflower, etc. But if you are in a colder climate you might have to wait until winter is over.

Good luck :-)

There are cool season veggies. At this time in the season, you may want to buy instant plants instead of getting seeds.

you can but it's probably too late now. check the number of days on the seed packet. make sure they will have time before it's due to frost.
