Sir or Madam:
the first thing you will have to do is light sand all of the surfaces you wish to paint. This is most easily done by removing the various covers from the electronics. You do not want to paint over the lettering and numbers. After the light sanding use steel wool to even out the scratches and make a dusty looking surface. Using a rag wet with rubbing alcohol, wipe all the sanding dust off of the plastic. Do not be afraid to do this two or three times.
The paint you need must be for spraying PVC Plastic. I assume that the phone you have has a plastic case, and is not one of the old candlestick jobs made of metal, or the antique wood box with side crank type. Only a paint that is compatible with PVC plastic will work. All others will peel and chip off in a very limited time. Some non compatible spray paints even get a wrinkled finish when applied to PVC plastic.
Spray this paint in a well ventilated area only. Use a cartridge type face mask to prevent the inhalation of paint spray vapors.
You can use masking tape and plastic bags to shield any parts of the telephone that may need to be protected from overspray, or the paint itself.
Cheers,
Zah

If you want to try something that is not going to create harsh fumes and require covering all of the area in the room, I would suggest trying acrylic paint. It is a plastic paint, so when it dries it creates a plastic type coating. It dries very quick and is really easy to use. I used a cheap tube of acrylic artist paint to paint my bathroom cupboards and it worked out really well. It didn't need sanding or an underlay or anything and it covered extremely well. It is washable and quite durable. It doesn't have a glossy shine, but if you want to give a shine to it you could coat it with something like modge podge to create that.

if you want to paint a telephone then all you have to do is unscrew the telephone and take the cover off and paint it any color you want on the outside.... also spray paint would work good.

if u need just to colour it use a spray paint. butif u want to decorate it, u can first cut a big or small(or both whichever u like) spots of plaster and glue it on teh phone first. that put the colour by spray and when it's dry, carefully take teh plaster off and here u go - a nice spotty phone. that's what i did with my home fax machine :D

I would use spraypaint for the best coverage without paint streaks... tape off what you don't want to pain with masking tape... plus, there are lots of good color choices *and* it's really very affordable. Don't get anxious to do too many coats though, I always get anxious and end up ruining things!
Good luck!
