he is retired and so am I. He takes his parents to Colorado for a month each yr, they can't drive themselves any more. I don't go because i watch our grandchildren and wouldn't enjoy being with his parent for a whole month. He comes home and stays for 2 days and takes them to Arkansas for 2 months hunting. He misses our son's B'day and Thanksgiving every year.

IT'S GETTING PRETTY OLD, AM I WRONG TO FEEL THIS WAY. I NEVER GET A VACATION AND HE PLANS HIS WHOLE YEAR AROUND THIS TIME FOR HIS PARENTS. MY PARENTS ARE DEAD, HIS ARE GETTING OLD, I FEEL GUILTY BEING JEALOUS, IF THAT'S THE RIGHT WORD.

Can't believe that you have put up with his self centered attitude for 32 years. Obviously this has to be talked out. This type of nonsense would never happen in our home.

i think he may be a little selfish doing this for so long but did you ever tell him how you feel about it? maybe you should sit down with him and explain how you feel, i mean 32 yrs with 1 person you should be able to say anything about how you feel. you deserve a vacation too just tell him that you like to do something special with him without his parents and the grandkids. he has to change his plans alittle for you. i am sure if you sit and have this talk you can figure out something. and you are not wrong for feeling this way especially after all these years. i hope there is some good changes for you in the future! good luck!

Well, I think you should go with them. It's pretty hard to understand that you could be married that long, and still not be able to tolerate his parents.

Your son is obviously not a child any more, so I'm sure he understands that his Daddy doesn't need to be there to hold his hand and sing Happy Birthday.

You watch your grandchildren because.....? I personally would not give up travel with my husband when we retire, just to babysit my grandchildren. Grandparents are supposed to enjoy them and then send them home.

Don't be jealous.... be involved. His parents are getting old, but so are YOU and so is HE. People OUR age are getting cancer, heart attacks, etc... and dying fairly often.

The two of you need to work this out. Compromise.
STICK TOGETHER.

you have every right to be angry...but not to much. Maybe he kknws they wont be here too much longer and tries to fillin as much time s he can. seems you are doing well together...and his time away should have made the two of you tighter. Maybe if you would spend at least 1 week with them on their trips it would make him even happier...try to understand...if they can't drive to do anything...your husband is just trying to fulfill the last fews years they may have here....just be patient...your son will have many more years with his papa....but papa's time is almost gone with his....

And you have put up with this for 32 years? You are a doormat, dear, and that is what he thinks of you. Better get a backbone or spend the rest of your life like this...a doormat.
