If you truly love someone you will forsake all others, including your parents. Maybe you should reassess the situation and relationship. But, also keep in mind that when she is ready she will tell them what needs to be said, it is very difficult sometimes to tell your mother and father what you know they don't want to hear.

I think we need more info. Why don't the parents like the other person? Were the parents aware the entire 10 years that they were a couple?

All of them.you needn't worry on that.many protect a couple of months' long relationship in front of their parents.but 10 years, and where love's involved...parents don't stand a chance.i wish you well :)
