Personally I am also right handed but I do not think I will ever use my left hand as since I am created this way by God I should obey it. You are right about using the left side of your body is supposed to activate your right brain which is better at spatial skills. But that does not really matter. You CAN easily activate your right brain using your right hand.

I'm trying to use my left hand more too. I'm not really sure if it does increase creativity though. You should look at the book Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain. I don't remember if it says anything about using your left hand, but it does teach how to use the right side of your brain.

If you are right handed and are teaching yourself to use your left hand as well, then the only thing that will be different, is that you will be amibitextrous. It doesn't matter what hand you use. Creativity comes from within and the more you practice at being creative, there is a greater chance that ideas will flow more freely. Just lighten up and give yourself a break.

I've heard that, too, but I'm left handed to begin with. I am more creative than most people I've met, if that helps. Why not just start thinking more? Also, go to more galleries and shows. The more art you see, the more information you have to draw from for your own compositions.

very insightful question! notwithstanding diego's comments it seems to me that being ambidextrous is, itself, a good idea. moreover, there are a number of very credible books which agree with your theory and recommend your strategy. thus, why not stick with it for a while in the spirit of experimentation and draw your own conclusions as to results. since you seem to be, in essence, interested in matters relating to "increasing consciousness", i would like to recommend the following: http://www.sahajayoga.com this site will introduce you to a very high level of "energy work/meditation" practice that you will find very beneficial if you try it out for a while. also, the book: *the complete idiot's guide to toltec wisdom* will outline for you an understanding of how the human mind works, and the serious perils of not making the effort to "bring it under control" so that you are in charge of your life rather than it. an out of control mind is what is experienced by the vast majority of humans almost all the time and leads inevitably to fear, confusion, drama, and unskillful, negative ego based behavior. best of luck!

If you ask me, being right or left handed in drawing does not counts. It is the focus, understanding and perseverance that you are giving that counts!Scientifically, it is the placement of your Broca's area inside your brain that affects on how you can write or draw. Just stick on your natural skils and keep on practicing!

Use the hand your more comfortable with, and learn how to switch your brain to right-conciousness. They have books that show you exercises on this... also look on the web.

it is not your left hand that judges spaces. it is judgment of the pic on your eye. try doing something that practices your spacial perception. switching hands wont do anything. if you are originally left handed, you are more likely to have better spacial perception. practice at it, that will help more than trying to change hands.

I don't think it will matter. I think people who are already right brained, use their left hand.
