Loud music - bring earplugs (a MUST if you're in the first 20 rows) and lots of people. You won't have much room to move, even if you've got assigned seating. Don't expect it to be a sedate event. People will be standing on their seats and dancing.
Try to carry as little with you as possible. Skip the purse or backpack. That's a security nightmare, and banned in many venues. Keep a little cash and your ID and if you have keys in your pocket. Leave everything else. Wear comfortable shoes. Even if it's assigned seating, you'll be waiting in line.
Don't even think about bringing a camera or recording device. If you manage to smuggle it past the guys at the door, you run a good chance of getting it confiscated inside - and then you can probably kiss it goodbye. (Cameras are allowed at most club shows, but not at big venues.)
Oh, and if you MUST have a t-shirt or program or something: buy it at the end of the night, especially if you're seeing a show near the end of the tour. Most artists would rather sell the swag than count, pack, and store it, so you'll sometimes see cheaper prices. (Most true the last week of a tour!!) Concert t-shirts are the biggest profit makers and have the highest markup.

You can't really get upset when people smoke or invade your personal space. You should expect to get pushed around a little and you should expect people to fall down on your head. If you put anything on the ground, you will probably lose it. It's probably a better idea not to bring in a purse unless you absolutely need to have it with you. It's better to just bring what you can put in your pockets.
By the end of the night, you should be covered in sweat and your ears should be ringing. This is a good way of knowing whether or not you truly got that good first concert experience. You should also never expect the band to play well, because if you go into a concert always expecting a band to play like they do on their albums, you will be disappointed. Some will really surprise you though, in a good way.
But most of all, you should expect to have a good time. Don't let anyone else there get you down. Just have a good time. It's really not a big deal. It would have helped a lot if you could have said who you were seeing. I could have told you more to expect.

Well lets see... It actually depends on the rules of the place ur going and such but u might smell pot and some smoke. Smelly sweaty people, A LOT OF SHOVING, very very LOUD music, croud surfers, some beer here and there, mosh pits and thats the basics really. Try not to bring cameras or anything cuz they might kick you out. But like i said before it all depends on the rules. Just bring urself and nothing more becasue u might lose it from all of the people around you. But just go out there and have a blast!

It depends on the type of music. If you're going to a rock concert, all the answers before mine were darn accurate. If you're going to a classical concert, the music won't deafen you, and the audience will be much more civilized and better dressed.
If you're going to a jazz concert, it won't be as crazy as the rock concert, but it'll be more casual than the Classical concert.

A little more information about who you're going to see would help predict what it might be like. I've been to over 150 professional concerts. Some great and some not worth seeing.

Leave as much in the car as possible. Don't bring in a bag. It takes too long to get in.
Have fun. Your ears may ring until the morning.

First stay overall performance: crimson Floyd "adventure" stay overall performance (no longer the actual adult adult males yet rather reliable) final stay overall performance: Sigur Rós at crimson Rocks suitable: Sigur Rós--listening to their appealing music below the celebrities in the midst of a canyon is incredibly plenty the suitable concern ever. :)

DO NOT wear the T-shirt of the band you are going to see. That would be a social and fashion faux pas.
