I think it is because they wish for their children to be able to take advantage of all their parent's failures, OUR failures, and want to spare them the grief of doing things wrong..... This is what ANY loving parent strives to do for their children, whether they formally question you or not... What a perfect question to be asked by a mere 10 yr old, and what a perfect opportunity for you to help form this child... Tell her we do not want her to be perfect, just safe and informed...Then explain the necessity of good grades and the effort involved, and why it is so important . Obviously, you are a caring parent, or you would not have posted this inquiry... Go with your heart, and do the best you can... You both will be just fine !!!!!

I hope she is referencing a friend's parent and not you!!

There is no way I would ever want my Children to be perfect!!

I want them to have fun and enjoy LIFE!

As a new parent (17 years ago) I tried to be the perfect parent and raise the perfect child. He soon taught me that that was no fun!!

My 3 teen aged boys are anything but perfect and I am definitely not the perfect parent.

We are very HAPPY and making our way in LIFE like so many other people just can't grasp!!!

Don't try to live up to the World's expectations, just live up to YOURS!!!

Because we are like trophies to show off to people or parents live their dreams through their kids in hope that the kids will get rich and give them money. Or they think that is what is best for them. Just accept us and encourage us.

Because unfortunately there are a lot of insecure adults in the world who think that by living "through their children", they can accomplish that which they've never set out to accomplish themselves.

Parents don't envision their children doing bad, so they get this perception in their heads, that "my child wouldn't do that!" Many expections from parents, they don't expect the bad!
