I've been wondering about those shows too. I really miss Doug and the old Rugrats (when they barely talked and was all background music). I also miss watching Legends of the Hidden Temple, Family Double Dare, GUTS, that video game show where the contestants go inside the video game and play it (use to be on in the morning and forgot the name of it). Pepper Ann, Inspector Gadget, Hey Arnold, Tin Tin, Garfield, Are You Afraid of the Dark?, the old All That...those where the days!
The only show that I really like is the Avatar.

Here is part of the Wikipedia article that sort of explains it. Basically, Cartoon Network decided to aim for a different, older age group. Too bad, because most of the Japanimation stuff they have now is garbage.
I really miss Courage the Cowardly Dog and Sheep in the Big City.
The older Hanna-Barbera cartoons, as well as the entire Warner Bros. Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies library and non-Tom and Jerry cartoons made by MGM such as those made by Tex Avery have been largely moved to the nostalgia-themed Boomerang sister network.
In recent years, Cartoon Network has also made attempts to attract viewers outside its core audience (young children about eight years old). Their Saturday-night cartoon block Toonami consists of acceptable-for-preteens and -teens anime from Japan, as well as some American animation, while a late-night cartoon block called Adult Swim shows more risqué, teenage- and adult-oriented cartoons (with a combination of anime and American-produced comedies such Futurama and Family Guy). On April 17, 2004, Toonami was moved to Saturday evenings and the afternoon slot was filled with Miguzi, showing action-oriented American, French, and Japanese TV shows aimed at a slightly younger age group than Toonami.
In June 2004, Cartoon Network relaunched itself with a new logo and slogan, “This is Cartoon Network.” The bumps now featured 2D cartoon characters from their shows interacting in a CGI city composed of sets from their shows. Nearly all of Cartoon Network's classic cartoon programming had been replaced by new programming, except for Tom and Jerry, a longtime staple of the Turner networks. As of 2006, the new slogan was “Cartoon Network—Yes!” as spoken by Fred Fredburger, a character on The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy.

Well, son you don't have to be 16 to 18 to remember those shows. We parents do pay attention to what our kids are watching. I would say the ones with real people, like Kenan and Kel ran into problems as their stars got older. The cartoons get canceled when new improved fare takes their place. But with all the channels today, don't worry, you're sure to catch them in reruns somewhere.

i'm 14! and i get it .
omigod, i used to <3 those shows, especially kenan and kel [ haha orange soda ] spongebob is a sheet show compared to the awesome shows they had back then! dexters lab was hilarious, little short boy who loved 'em burritos. hey arnold, omigod, i haven't thought about these shows in years. all that was great! then it just sucked. johnny bravo was a hottie! pepper ann was so great. but she just had funny hair. powerpuff girls was awesome too. ah, i miss those days.
i think the producers stopped making those shows because all the new stuff was pushing the old stuff out of the series.

I think that Dexter is still on sometimes, but I miss Doug and Johnny Bravo so much. What about Cow and Chicken too? I loved that one. Pepper Ann was always my favorite though.

The ones that weren't cartoons, I think they just grew up. The others, well, TV is no fickle, maybe they didn't get as good of a rating. It seems like tv producers and directors don't know when to leave a good show on, they are always looking for a better idea. Too bad.

Ratings dropped perhaps... Kids lost interest and the station made way for new more "hip" shows. As for live action shows the actors out grow the roles and move on to more professional jobs, so the show can not continue unless it has a new cast. Good show cant last forever.

They all were can canceled to make way for newer fresher shows. Most kids networks have strict rules requiring shows to end after just a few seasons.
