I find the constellation of Andromeda by finding the North Star first. On one side of the North Star is the constellation known as the big dipper in the USA and the plough in the UK. On the opposite side of the North Star is a "W" shaped constellation known as "Cassiopiea". If you measure the distance from the North Star to Cassiopiea and then go that same distance again farther away from the North Star, you will come to Andromeda.
