Unfortunately, you wont be using a usb cable to connect 2 computers. If, as an example, you're having a problem with a crashing hard drive on one computer and you need to get all of the info on it to your other computer quickly, go to your local Radio Shack and pick up what we call a "Crossover" cable. It has ends like a normal ethernet cable and will move info very quickly for you between the two machines. The cost of the cable is $10.97 and will do a great job. However, if you're trying to network your computers together so that they can both share the internet, etc., you'll need a router for the main machine and an ethernet card to put into the 2nd machine so that they can communicate together, whether it's done wireless or wired. If you'd like to be able to print from both machines and have only one printer, simply purchase a Print Server and you'll be good to go. You will need a special USB transfer cable, not a standard USB cable.

If it is a transfer cable, you will probably need to install any drivers and software first. That way the cable will be properly installed. If you already installed the cable and it isn't working properly, go to the device manager (Control Panel->System->Hardware Tab->Device Manage) and remove the cable from the device manager. Then reinstall the cable.

Also, don't use a double rectangle (A type) ended cable that isn't a computer to computer transfer cable. Some camera cables will be a double A type, but don't use those for PC to PC as they could short out the ports on the computers.

Tried it already huh ?
Anything plugged into USB should be picked up as found new hardware.
Except if i am not mistaken ? You need to get reversed USB cables .
But i am not 100% sure
