I've got a really good friend who's in the Airforce... Currently he's stationed in Japan... Anyhow, He recently met up with a friend of ours from school and they found they have a lot in common. He says it's like looking into a mirror. They call themselves Twins. He says he's in love with her and wants to marry her. Only problem is she's married. Claims it's an unhappy marriage and that things have been bad for a while because he told her a NASTY lie before they got married and then revealed the truth on their honeymoon. She said she doesn't want to be with her current husband anymore and loves the AF guy. But according to both of them she can't afford to pay for a divorce, but from what AF guy says the only way they can be together with him being overseas is marriage. So is she playing him? Or can they actually be together?

As far as I know she hasn't asked him to pay for it... He at least hasn't mentioned her asking. He's come to me for advice, and I don't know what to tell him! Which is why I here...

Im not too sure what you mean about him being overseas and the only way they can be together is to be married. If you mean with him being married...will they station him back to where she is living?, then I can understand the question. I suppose in that light, yes if he was married the Airforce would have to take that into account. They cannot keep married people apart for any lenth of time. Being single and being in the services is different, they only have themselves to think about so, will be sent anywhere without a thought for his/her private circumstances. I was married to a service person and the heirarchy had to consider that fact when they posted him. Although in war time, they will send service personnel regardless of their marital status anywhere they are needed...but only for a certain length of time.
As to the cost of divorce, I dont know about the laws over where you are, but you can divorce in Australia for as little as $100. But we have the no blame law where all you have to do is be separated from your husband for 12 months, then you can divorce.
If they love each other, and if she is seriously unhappy in her marriage, then they will find a way to be together. If they are looking at all the negatives as to why they cannot be together, then my opinion is they are looking for excuses not reasons and one or both of them are kidding themselves.

Does your friend realize what can happen to him under the UCMJ for adultery? All it would take is for her husband to contact his squadron lst shirt or commander. He could also contact OSI and get this info from the alpha roster if it isn't already in his possession. That's all fine and romantic that they found each other. The problem is she must end her marriage before continuing. There are self-help divorces done all the time at a fraction of the cost. She can't live with her husband at all in order to obtain a valid seperation. She is playing him. She gets him to pay for her divorce and a free trip overseas and then she plays the same game on someone else is more than likely the real scenario for her.

Good question. Who knows what her real intentions are but none matter UNTIL she is free of her husband. I hope her/your boyfriend understands that. She probably sees an opportunity to "travel the world" with him.. When he gets out of the AF all that will be gone anyway. Overseas assignments only last so long and he will be back in the states at some common base. All of her dreams will crash then. I think she is dreaming.
There are some places that military men CANNOT take their wives. Other than that, IF he is high enough in rank and the AF allows his wife to join him....yes she can go. Pops

i don't think so. if he's smart enough for the AF, he should be smart enough to let this chick handle her own business.
