all those great games today, but you can't help but see that LSU received bad officiating, Notre Dame given a freebie in the inzone, and Oregon getting a freebie by a bad call.....do we just "get over it"...there is so much at stake in college ball today, reviews just seem to be the simple answer?????

As much as I would like to agree with you, part of the game is the human error element.

When I played NCAA volleyball, we were coached to NEVER offer up if you did something "wrong" or one of the officials made a bad call. It's part of the game. It's also a part of the outcome.

I think the only one that had any effect on the outcome of the game was the Oregon one. And that was "questionable" at best. Looking at all of the different angles, it was hard to tell if the ball was tipped or not, voiding the pass interference call. Notre Dame - with getting the "freebie" still had their @$$es handed to them by Michigan (go Wolverines!!!), and LSU - well, I don't really know if that made a difference in the outcome truly. . .

Do offical calls make a difference in the game? They can. But you can't blame a loss or cheapen someone else's win on the officials. My coach used to say "All good athletes blame the equipment and the officials."

What would be the best way to prevent this? FULL TIME officials! It would be expensive - yes. But you would draw officials from around the country, and you would get some well trained, experienced officials that would know the rules inside and out, and they would be able to be confident in their calls. They would be able to train all the time, and you could insure that no "hometown boy" officiates a game in the area. You could have them travel for the games, and then insure true fairness. But the NFL can't even get full-time officials, so the NCAA will not have a hope or a prayer of getting them.

Both of the calls in the Oklahoma/Oregon game were horrible. I'm sure it didn't have anything to do with the guy in the review booth being from Eugene, OR. Both calls obviously should have been overturned. Oregon never should have received the ball after their player touched the ball before it traveled 10 yards. The official said there was conclusive evidence that the receiving player touched the ball, which is irrelevant because it is a live ball anyway AFTER it travels the initial 10 yards. The game was over at that point and the Oregon play by play guy even said the same when he saw the replay. I won't even ask why Oregon was awarded the ball when Oklahoma came out of the pile with the ball. THEN, the horrible pass interference call was equally unbelievable. I wonder what the replay review idiot thought caused the football to go from spiral to wabbling duck? They shouldn't even have replay if they are going to screw it up this bad. I can't see how any reasonable person could argue.

First of all, you CAN call for a review on a play such as the Oregon one, but the problem is that Oklahoma was out of timeouts and so they could not challenge the call. However, I just watched the replay of the controversial call and I saw Oklahoma touch it first. Just remember, cameras can catch a lot but they cannot catch everything. And sometimes refs just make bad calls. We have to accept it but college football DOES allow reviews. GO DUCKS!
