hello , first i would go to the library or barnes n noble and check out a book by darr. on conifers look up your zone and the type of species you have . conifers need to placed in a hole twice the size of the container they come in .if you are transplanting you want to dig deep n round in to the soil . be careful not to damage the large tap root which is the heart of the plant . use natures helper soil conditionerand miracle grow for evergreen plants . water 1 to 3 days for two weeks to help settle the roots into its new home before frost . also use hardwood mulch or pine needles to cover the ground around the trees to protect through the winter.

You don't say what sort they are. There is huge range of confiers. Some are fast growing and quickly become huge and overpowering. Some are slow growing and can remain small for quite a number of years and never reach huge proportions. Look on the label for the height in 10 years. This will give you an idea of how fast they will grow. I have some dwarf conifers on my rockery and I'm very pleased with them, all they ask is to watered in well when planting. Water again every couple of days for a at least two weeks until established, then only need to water in really dry spells. Make sure you do water if very dry because the leaves can go brown and never recover and you get left with brown patch.

Conifers will grow any where but as you might well know they grow very fast, plant 2-3ft apart and keep them down to 6ft or less and cut them 2 to 3 times a year depending what kind of conifer's they are. If you look after them they are very nice if you let them go, well you will find out?

Go to the nearest hillside and plant them there.

Never plant conifers in your garden - they'll suck the goodness from your soil, starve the grass of nutrients and sunlight, annoy the neighbours and you'll end up having to pay tree feller to chop them down.

You'll be sorry for ever planting them, they will drain your garden of life, get too big to handle, be careful if you do plant them because there are now laws on where you put them, if they are too close to a neighbour you can be made to remove them, Horrible things.

First make sure they are not the ones which grow to millions of feet high. Then, dig a hole fifteen inches deep, every six feet, and stick em in. Water em. Leave em alone, and when you get sick of cutting them, and them blocking your light, or your neighbours, chop them down, and start all over again. Its the only way...they are beasts.
