I'd use some good strong cardboard, cut a hole in the centre and put sticky backed plastic over it all (to make it waterproof) then I'd fill it with water, put some plants in, some carrots cut into goldfish shapes, and hey presto, instant wet carpet.

not cost effective and you have to be accurate with your measurements as it can not be cut to rectify any piece thats to big even by a fraction
