It's a toughy but the one I enjoyed most was maybe Broken Sword. Great dialogue, great characters and a plot that would put most films to shame. Special shout out to original Resident Evil and Silent Hill (soundtrack was something else).

Personally, of the games you have mentioned, I preferred both Resident Evil and Silent Hill to Broken Sword, my thinking that both of these games draw the player more into a gaming world than the latter game.

They also hold your interest more, in a way that YOU control the character, hence you are the character.
I prefer games that offer total freedom to the player, giving the player a sense of learning and choice as they play. Resident Evil and Silent Hill offer this to a certain degree, but Broken Sword?

Broken Sword was a somewhat linear game, a game played on rails. Go here, click on this, go here etc. There are so many better games out there that truly draw you in.
One game springs to mind though - a game that not only draws you in to the gaming world itself but also to the character, and this is done by how you control him.

I have been playing games for twenty years now, and cannot think of another game that exerts more pinpoint controls than that of Super Mario 64. As such, given you have such precise control, means you are Mario - you are in the game.

Yes sure, there are other greats out there, but there is only so much driving and killing that can be done in Grand Theft Auto, only so much shooting and strafing to be done in Halo, yet the Mario games, particularly SM64 offer something only a true gamer would appreciate: a fully integrated "playable" character.

It is not often that a game comes along where you could spend a good twenty minutes just running and jumping about just for the fun of it, and not bother about what you are supposed to be doing. You find yourself doing this with SM64.

I am guessing, since you have listed Broken Sword, Resident Evil, and Silent Hill as your top games, you prefer the more thinking style of games rather than platformers, so you will probably disagree with my choice.

I have all of those games, and yes they are good but none have replay value. Complete them once, shelf them forever.
Super Mario 64 has replay value in abundance.

So there you have it: my best computer game ever and why.
My second choice would be any of the Metroid games, and for the same reasons - they give you complete control in a gaming environment - especially the 3D games where you actually feel you are the character.

Oh, and did I mention that SM64 was the first true 3D game that totally changed the gaming industry and the way that people thought about playing games...

Super Mario 64

There are many great games but this is one i keep going back too time and time again even if its just to run and jump around everywhere and have Mario climb up trees and stuff.

It set the benchmark for 3d platform games, when i first played it i felt like 'of course that's how a 3d platform game should play', something i hadn't been able to get my head round beforehand.

GTA: San Andreas is the best game, its got good graphics, good music, and excellent gameplay.

Theres lots to do and it would take you at least 2 weeks to complete it, so there is a lot of game time.

Also it's fun, of course, the style of it is Action/Adventure.

The story of GTA:SA is amazing, there are twists, surprises and also amazing cars, excellent radio channels and also heavy guns.

There are lots to do, apart from doing the missions, you can play mini games, like video poker, pool, bet on horse racing or go into the casino. Its really addictive.

The missions are just intensifying, it is just a dream game.

Hello,
If you want to download Mario Forever you can download it here for free: http://bitly.com/1p0vSNH

Mario Forever is another remake of the classic Super Mario game which brings a new action and mission for Mario. Once again please strap your wrench and put on your hardhats and join this chubby plumber in his expedition in over many skillful levels you will go to, as he goes to the castle of this evil dragon and save the cute little princess in the end.
Give it a try.

World of Warcraft by far! It's great for the casual gamer who doesn't have too much time to play. You can solo most of the game, and get pretty far by yourself. And it appeals to hardcore MMO players. You can get into dungeon raids with 39 other people including yourself! The game can be quite addicting with PvP, battlegrounds, dungeon raids, Town raids, or just talking the day away with your guild.

I think it's metal gear solid on playstation as I have never played a game with as realistic, original and action packed as metal gear solid. Truly a historical classic in the gaming history.

They say the best things in life are free. Well so is the best game. Americas Army is absolutely awesome. If you're up for a challenge then download it and run that puppy. In order to play MultiPlayer you must complete basic training first. Then in order to use other weapons you would have to complete specialized training. Like for Sniper you need to qualify for it then complete advanced marksmanship training Or in order to play Special Forces maps you need to complete the specail forces training.

You're not getting the answers you hoped for, are you? ;-) You're hot on the photo-realistic graphics, while everyone is coming up with old classic games.

So sorry to say, but my best game ever is either Doom 2 or X-Wing. Doom 2 may have dire graphics, but the game play has never been topped since. Multiplayer is just the greatest fun you can have with your clothes on!
