Having a BS with a major in music, I don't care for country music because it is the epitome of poor singing technique, granted, a lot of pop/rock/alternative etc. isn't much better in that regards, but country music takes the cake.

But really, a "perdy trac'ter?"

I have to agree with the answers above. The subject matter is mostly the same, and the sound was always twangy, though it's learned a lot from rock n roll lately. So instead of a type of music that has borrowed from another style to stay alive, I just go straight to the source - rock music.

I think it is because they haven't listened to it and are just saying that. Country Music like most music has a lot of variations.

I like most classifications of music but not all music.

You can tell by the answers above that is the case cause all country music does not have southern accents or twangy guitars.

But then I am middle aged. ;o) and I like it.

i have to listen to it all the time at work and all the sing about is beer, and 9-11 ...they feed off making money on 9-11...a guy even sang "when those people were blown away" a shame, and they try so hard to be cool, but every song is an utter annoyance, honkey tonks and yeehaws and redneck women, God save me

hmmm I love country music. I thought everyone did. I like it because you can understand the words they are singing...unlike some of the other types of music.

I don't even consider modern country to be music. It's pure crap. Older stuff I can at least respect.

Backstreet Boys/Toby Keith. There is ZERO difference. It's pop crap.

It has to be my least favorite although I like some of it. It's just not very appealing to me. I never yearn to hear it like I do many other types of music. Not sure quite how to explain it.

I tried to like it. I really did. My husband likes it. My daughter likes it. I tried! It's stupid and dull. It all sounds the same to me and the lyrics are just lame. What's "sudz in da buckit" mean anyway? I never know what they are talking about.
