The center of his teaching was Morality and it was based on 5 relationship, to wit: father-son, elder-younger brothers, husband -wife, friend -friend, and emperor-subject.
What is missing? I think that " I - neighbor " i.e., conception of 'self' and 'common good' is missing.
Confucius' Moral order was hierarchical (vertical mostly) and horizontal relationship was within clan. This explains why Confucian societies tend to be hierarchical rigid, bossy, and used to neglect public order, always tending to form small circle of clans. This is changing, of course, as the Western Culture's influence on Asia is considerable.
I hope that this opinion helps you. Have a good day.
