I've just come to a new church, and went to the youth meeting, but it seemed that I wasn't there. Only two people talked to me (very briefly though, and I had already met them before). We were there... my sister and I... and I felt awful. Shouldn't they welcome us and talk to us? How do they want new people to visit them if they don't even say 'hi' or try to be a little nice?

People are sometimes slow to respond to something new or even new people in their midst. Be patient with them and give them ample opportunity to become your friends (while being friendly to them). It is good to have friends and good friends are even better to have. Become one of them and you cannot be ignored because of the love and security your relationships can bring.

I totally agree with you.I've heard of this happening quite often and I don't understand it either especially when they constantly say they want new members or "how do we get our young people back to church?" Maybe you could talk to the minister and tell him how you felt at the meeting or the head of the youth club.People need reminders as to why they are there and how to welcome new comers.
Try to give it another chance and I hope it turns out much better for you and your sister.

Take it up with the pastor right away. Tell him exactly what you told us. If he is horrified and does something about it immediately, then this will be good for both you and your sister. If he brushes you off, or otherwise minimizes the problem, maybe it's time for you to look for a new church?

Yes, the people should have welcomed you and your sister and introduced you to the whole group. They should have asked you to join them and show you around and explain the things that they do.

They probably aren't thinking about it which is sad but it happens, Maybe you can mention your feelings to the people you already know there and they will make everyone else remember their manners.
