When you take your pants off it smells like yeasty bread or rank. It can also happen from drinking out of a public drinking fountain, taking antibiotics (this weakens your immune systems ability to fight it off) and other things. Just get something like Vagasil or Monistat-7 or go to your doctor to get an anti-fungal to apply.

A yeast infection is a very common vaginal infection that is non-serious but does require cream to clear it up.
Basically your vagina has a natural discharge which keeps your vagina moist. This is the "good discharge". But when the good discharge has a overload, this can cause a yeast infection to set in.
Symptoms of a yeast infection are:
Yellow or green vaginal discharge.
Clumpy vaginal discharge.
Discharge that smells like cheese or fish or just yuck.
Vaginal itching.
Burning upon urination.
Swollen, tender or red vulva and vaginal area.
You may have all or only one of these symptoms during a yeast infection.
If this is your first yeast infection you need to go to your doctor.

Yeast infections which are common for females is a fungus that grows in areas of the body where is is dark and moist. you can be the cleanest person and get the infection. Many women who over wash there private area especially with antibacterial soap, clears the normal good bacteria on the skin that helps prevent yeast infections. But as a nurse I have seen yeast infections grow in various skin folds of patients. Many times it is because they do not was and dry properly in those folds of the skin. Medication for this infection is found in pharmacies and are over the counter...no prescriptions needed. Many times you may have to ask the pharmacist for it because it is behind their counter.

It is an infection of the vagina that often includes a discharge that is white and curd-like, redness and vaginal itching. Vaginal yeast infections can be brought on by antibiotics, birth control pills, pregnancy, menstruation, condom use, sexual intercourse, diabetes, and a weakened immune system.
I want to clarify the answer given by Trisha. Yeast infections do not cause yellow-green discharge or fish-like odor. These are caused by different types of vaginal infections.

Most women will get one in their life time. It is not fun! This is not sexualy transmitted. Yeast survives in warm wet places and a gals vagina is just that unfortunatly. When this happens she can purchase over the counter cream to take care of it or see her doctor. I have included a website that will go into more detail.

It is an infection. I think it is more like an itchy rash.
