Because we are hanging by a thread. This person is also a full blown pathalogical liar.

Very difficult by oneself. Approach the yet more elders/friends of the eldest for help, else meekly put up with it.

I don't believe this can be answered sufficiently in this forum, but since you asked, I will give it a try.

"Pathological liars can't always tell truth from falsehood and contradict themselves in an interview. They are manipulative and they admit they prey on people, yet they are very brazen in terms of their manner, but very cool when talking about this."

If this quote from researchers at the University of Southern California fits your son, then he may need treatment through counseling. If the nature of the damage is significant (which it appears to be from the word choices in your question), then family/group therapy may also be warranted in conjunction with his individual counseling.

Also be careful of the "self-fulfilling prophesy," where there may be a tendency to place a certain label on a person, and then they feel that they have no choice but to act in that manner.

Whatever you chose as far as next steps and action, this is clearly an area for a trained professional (social worker or psychologist) to evaluate/assess, and then ultimately come up with a plan of action that works for your entire family. Best of luck!

I had a choice between the military or going to college and working full-time at the same time.

While working full-time while paying my own education but I wasn't allowed to get student loans. I had to save up the money myself and get a bursary and use my income tax credit.

If I had gotten pregnant as a teenager, I would have had to put the kid up for adoption or get married and move out. If I had run away, they would've put me in jail. I wasn't allowed to go out without a chaperone, to learn how to drive, to wear makeup or skimpy clothing. They tried to put me into private Catholic school, which I barely avoided. I had to run in track and field, play badminton, volunteer and work.

I have no sympathy for your eldest...
