Oh dear, poor old Abelard has taken it to heart, a bit,

In this country, you vote for a party, they get in,
At the end of there term in office, go back to thier original manifesto,
See how many of there pledges, have been fullfilled.............NOT MANY.

In fact, it does`nt matter who you voted for,
go back a hundred years, look at the policy`s of the then goverment, then how long they where in office for, and how many where completed.

So what`s the point of voting, if the thing`s you voted for, in the first place, are ignored

I am not interested in a communist this or that, If the people wanted it that bad, etc

I've been brought up in a communist country, and believe me - this one day every 4 or 5 years is what makes the difference between prisons, intimidation, lack of any freedom, poverty vs. welfare, freedom, and normality. People in some countries get killed for this right. I am only upset to see that people in "democratic" countries are sometimes too stupid or lazy to appreciate it. I always go to elections and try to read carefully what the candidates propose in their programmes. I really do believe that on this date I delegate my right to making things happen the right way to other people. It is like recycling, putting rubbish into bins, respecting other people, washing hands before serving/making food - small things which, if done by all the people responsibly, would make this planet so much better place to live.

Maybe everyone should submit votes in another box near the polls so that we can get a true count and not depend on the Republican owned voting machines. Instead of an Exit Poll, drop a slip of paper with your votes in the box.

I used to feel the same way before, but there are so many laws and so many things that are happening on this country, that we must make our voices be heard in some way. Besides, a lot of blood has been spilled so that we could have that freedom. So we owe it to those who have sacrificed themselves for freedom to vote. After all, voting is sort of like blogging. It gives you and me a voice. Could you imagine not having a chance to blog?

Elections are needed but the whole procedure has to be fool proof. It should be simple inexpensive and possible to file a vote from any place on earth. since the politicians do not like mass participation they manipulate the electional laws to get into power.
No one bothers to ask the opinion of the citizen

I agree. Whoever you vote for, they eventually do what they want and screw you over in the process. Most of the governments have no idea about the real world and are only out to line their own pockets. They don't care about all the people that have voted for them or paid their wages through tax.

That's right. BIG waste of time. The government puts in office who THEY want, not the voters. Look at what happened with Al Gore. We VOTED him into office. Bush got in anyway with the illegal help of his BROTHER Jeb Bush. THat's a fact.

Elections it’s the only choice for the public to choose the government. Use it. Just think which party is you need for now and vote them. Don’t let your country down by choosing wrong people. Because the people you choose are going to be your Guide/Boss and so on.

It might seem like it, buts that's because so many people think selfishly and ask the question "What will that political party do for me?".
If the question was "What will that political party do for the society as a whole?" we would get better governments.
