Please let's get some of the facts straight.
The daddy longlegs that is also known as the harvestman has no venom glands. And it is not a true spider, but it is an arachnid. The most venomous is just a myth. Although some large tropical species might bite a person, there will be no effect because they have no venom whatsoever. They are completely harmless to humans. They are omnivorous feeding on small insects, plants, fungi, and they are also scavengers feeding on decompose matter.
The daddy longlegs spider, although it does have venom, their venom is to weak to have any serious effect on humans. Like all spiders they are beneficial by feeding on insects, such as flies and mosquitos.
The daddy longlegs that is also known as the crane fly is a food source for many birds or any other insect eating animals.
So, whether you like them or hate them, they are just like any creature on earth. They were put here for a reason. They do have their part in the ecosystem, either as predator, prey or scavengers. Just because they may not serve purpose to us, doesn't mean they don't serve a purpose in the ecosystem.

How are they possibly annoying? in all my years I have been annoyed by countless people, never by daddy long legs..... they are harmless, they dont bite, they are interesting looking and I believe they feed on insects like mosquitos... if you think daddy long legs are annoying you must be on crack, try living in Northern Canada during Blackfly season then you may have a real comprehension of what annoyance is.....
PS just because something is annoying to you doesnt mean it has no purpose in the ecosystem, all creatures fill an ecological niche that they have adapted to.

Did you ever think that they might be wondering the same thing about you ?
Actually, to a daddy-long-legs what purpose do you serve ?They, like millions of other things are part of nature. They go about their lives the same as we do. Not everything has to be of great benefit to humans. We, like them are just creatures of nature.
Do we, or they have a purpose ? Sure, to be born, grow up, reproduce, and die in order to make room for the next generation.
We, like the harvestman ( daddy long legs ) are not superior to each other, just different.

Their purpose is to prevent me from doing a sub 7 at the Nurburgring by flying in front of the flippin` telly as I get to that bit with the jump and the right turn at the bottom of the hill.
There must be 20 of them in here tonight, I am gonna catch them and feed them to the huge spider in my bath, should be more fun than Tourist Trophy has been tonight.
Do not whinge, they owe me !

Daddy Longlegs are (beneficial) spiders that eat small insects. When temps start to cool as Autumn approaches, a person can find them all huddled on the porch ceiling in groups. They are absolutely harmless to us but deadly to insects, the mouthparts are too small to bite us. Now don't be such Fraidy Cats!

both are roughly the same except when it comes to protein. ALMOST ALL veggies include a good amount of protein; fresh fruit does not.

Yeah, some animals are weird or seemingly a waste, but God made millions of kinds of species to show his power and creativity. Instead of allowing them to annoy you, marvel at the many different kinds of creatures there are in the world. If you have to squash an "intruder" that's in your house, I don't think God will mind too much if you give it an early departure from this life.

I hate them too! Swat them away and their legs all fall off in your hair. Yeuch!!!!
Who said arachnid? In my insect book they are a crane fly. arachnids are spiders, unlike the daddy long legs which have two wings and fly.
Anyway, I agree. They only seem to flutter about being horrible, and laying eggs which turn into awful grubs which eat the roots of my nice plants!

Daddy-longlegs are great fun when my cat chases 'em. They're easy to catch, very entertaining, and easier (psychologically,)to 'mash' than spiders.
Ps.Blackie says, crunchy, meow, purr....x
