I didn't think it was possible to love you more than I already do, or to miss you and want you more than I already do, but yes, absence has only made the yearning burn deeper and stronger my love. I am so happy uou're back, I know my heart will burst!!! I love you so much!!

Depends on the relationship - if you're in love absence makes the heart grows fonder. If not and you're gone for just a few days, then again, absence makes the heart grow fonder. If not and its any longer then that, its out of sight out of mind... or when the cat's away the mice will play.

Time spent apart is just as important as time spent together. In short doses, I think it makes each partner desire the other just a bit more. Maybe some petty things a couple might bicker about will not seem so important. Though long absences typically end up destroying a relationship. I've seen a marriage and a LTR dissolved where both people lived separately due to jobs.

NO!!!!
My Mr. is in Texas I am in Cali. He works for ATT and they moved him. When you are management you go where they send you. I can't leave my job I make to much and love living in Cali, my kids are in school here and lets face it California is the place to be.
We have been apart since March. I love him as much today as the day he left. The time apart is only making us both h*rny. Which is probably good when he comes home but its really frustrating for both of us.
So does it fuel the fire yes probably a little.
But it makes life a little less joyful.
Does it snuff out the fire?
Not if the love is real and the heart is true.
But like make up sex, it is really hot when he does come home on visits.

I believe it makes the heart grow fonder. It makes a person miss another person, and think about them. Everything seems to remind that you of that person and you cannot get them out of your head. If its true love, you will never get over this feeling. You will always want to be with that person in the back of your mind and wonder what it could have been like.

It makes mine grow fonder. But it in the same since, the separation kinda puts a wedge there too. Making the separation tolerable, I guess.

Absence is an aphrodisiac
The longer she is desired and unobtainable the greater the feeling is of fulfillment in her arrival. have you ever stood in the arrival area of an airport and watched friends and lovers greet after a trip away it is an emotional thing to be sure . the passion and the relief on their beaming faces .
that alone can leave no doubt

I have some friends who have gone through divorces due to absence - Iraq deployment, etc. I believe if the absence is short it could work, but long term the effects tend to cause the relationship to fizzle.

The only time absence makes me more fond of someone is when they sort of annoy me in the first place... then when they leave, my affection comes to the fore!
If I love someone totally when they're with me, I feel the same when they leave, and the same when they get back. SO no, I wouldn't say it makes my heart fonder, according to the old idea...

I'd say the percentage is about 60/40 in favor that absense makes the heart grow fonder.
