I think that Dumbledore misjudged Snape. He was a brilliant wizard, but not perfect. He admitted that he made mistakes, and when he did that they were proportionally huger than others because he was so much smarter generally. Besides, it would have been a matter of putting faith in someone that didn't deserve it and he is famous for believing that people deserve a second chance. He was aware of the Unforgivable Vow, he trusted Snape about why he took it (unfortunately.)
I do believe that Dumbledore died for a reason. He put the body bind on Harry so that he wouldn't interfere when he tried to convince Draco that what he should turn to the Order for help. If the Death Eaters hadn't interrupted, I think that he would've been successful in getting him to. Dumbledore died trying to save Draco. He didn't give up on him all that year even though he knew he was trying to kill him. Also, Harry overheard Draco's discussion with him and now he feels sorry for Draco because he knows that Voldemort was blackmailing him. I think that in the next book Draco is going to help Harry, and Harry will accept his help because of Dumbledore forcing Harry to listen in the tower. So, his death wasn't for nothing. It will probably lead Harry to be able to defeat Voldemort finally. By the way, I don't think that Dumbledore was plead with Snape because he was afraid to die. I think he plead with Snape not to kill him because killing is the ultimate act of evil and he wanted so badly for him to have reformed. Plus, he knew if Snape had returned to his evil ways then he'd take Draco with him (who he'd hoped he'd saved.)
I think that Snape is evil. He did advise Harry to close his mind because he wants him to defeat Voldemort. Not helping because he cares about Harry though. He just knows from overhearing the prophesy that only Harry can vanquish Voldemort, so he wants him to succeed in that. But, only because he wants to be free of Voldemort himself. He is tired of being a pawn in Dumbledore and Voldemort's war. And, he fears Voldemort, who is a psychopath that kills and tortures his own Death Eaters when they displease or fail him. Snape is trying to make sure that he isn't next. So, he is another evil Slytherin, looking out for himself. I'm anxiously awaiting any further confirmed information on Book 7 too! I hope that she settles on one of the two titles soon and announces it.

Snape promised Narcissa that he would protect Draco's life, even if it meant the end of his own. When Draco was charged with the task of killing Dumbledore, Snape knew that Draco couldn't do it. Dumbledore knew that Draco couldn't do it and Dumbledore wanted Snape to kill him while he was in his weakened form. I always thought that this is because Draco didn't want to kill Voldemort, and Dumbledore knew it. He figured that Draco while not an innocent bystander, is still just a child. By killing Dumbledore, Snape gave Draco an out.
I never thought that Snape was evil. Mean, ornery, and cruel--sure. But not evil. We'll just have to wait and see. I am so excited!

Snape = good: Reasons, 1. Dumbledoor told Malfoy he could protect him from the dark lord by making him appear to die in a VERY convincing manner. 2. Dumbledoor is NOT stupid and he would not ahve drank that potion without some protection. 3. Dumbledoor needs some freedom to find the remaining horcruxes. 4. The Avara Cadavera curse lets out a green light. The spell the killed Dumbledoor was NOT green. i.e. Dumbledoor is NOT dead... This is my opinion. Harry = live I also do NOT believe harry will die. Reason, the author writes childrens stories. I can not see her killing off teh hero that some many children have come to love.

If Dumbledore didnt let Snape kill him he would have lost his ability 2 infiltrate Voldemorts plans and give them 2 the ootp. Thats y Dumbledore begged Snape 2 kill him so Snape could allow Harry 2 kill Voldemort in the end. There4 Snape=good Dumbledore died 2 help bring an end 2 Voldemort

I think Snape will turn out to be the good person and is on the right side. I think that Dumbledore wanted Snape to kill him for a reason because Hagrid overheard Dumbledore and Snape arguing outside, something with Snape does not want to do it and Dumbledore is expecting to much. I think its all a big plan.

I agree with the rest of the lot, Snape is good. I think he will be more powerful than Voldemort and over come him. Dumbledore may be a controlling fool, but I think he was right about Snape. Besides, Severus is too sexy to kill off....(At least in my mind XD) --Severly Snaped, Sirius Black

I think he might not be dead - to me it seems it was staged to look like snape killed him - everyother time the Avada Kedavra is cast the person drops dead on spot - why did Dumbeldore float slowly up and over the side to the ground. Also - Dumbledore freezes harry under the cloak - why... maybe he didnt want him poping out and hurting snape and the plan.
Also why didnt fawks help him?
And you never saw his body at the funeral.

I think Dumbledore is as dead as Gandalf was in the middle of the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
Snape is a good guy.
It's all a ruse to finally nail Voldemort.

I love the HARRY POTTER books and can't wait to read the last one, in reply to your question, I suspect that Dumbeldore, when he was pleading with Snape for help, was asking to die, having hurt himself beyond saving in the cave where he drank that awful liquid trying to get the hidden locket. I honestly think we are in for a lot of surprises in the last book, but do see a battle between Harry and Snape before the truth comes out, if you read each book again, they all give hints and clues to the NEXT book.
