You answered your own question!
Yes, I did know that. You can go to Romania on Dracula tours and visit his various castles, he had more than one (Bran is the prettiest and most visited. It is surprisingly pretty for a castle.)
In Romania he is remembered more like a national hero for driving out the Turks. That why he was being so vicious. Romania has been invaded for 2000 years by Romans, Germans, Russians, Hungarians, Greeks, Huns, and just about every other possible invader. Even by Vlad's time, they were pretty sick of it, and sort of welcomed his NASTY approach to the invaders! Even though he was also very nasty to political opponents.
Bram Stoker, who wrote Dracula, took Vlad as his inspiration but that is a very thin connection. Still, I am glad the Romanians are making money off of it, they need it! Visit Romania! It's a very beautiful country with forests and mountains.

yes, but first let me tell that
Dracula was derived from
"dracul" w/c literally translates
to "son of the dragon".
it was a title giiven to Vlad the Impaler
or Vlad Tepes (king of Romania at that time).
according to the discovery channel,
Vlad impales his victims, that comprises
of young, old, woman and man. Basically,
whoever...he's not picky on his victims...
he drinks their blood, it is also said that
he only eats his bread for breakfast when
he has dipped it in his victim's fresh blood...
from then did bram based his character &
novel, however, even before vlad's time,
stories about vampires have been flourishing
in romania...
* i think that building a castle in cal would
be a good idea, since dracula was & still
is a famous infamous figure in history....

Vlad Tepes does not translate as Vlad Silver, rather Vlad the Impaler. And his country was not Transylvania, but Valachia (modern day Southern Romania region).

Vlad Dracul is Vlad the Impaler. Bram Stoker based "Dracula" on this man.

Dracula Amusement park...that would be freakin' awesome. I don't think it would draw in the Disney crowd.....but you can bet every goth with money would find their way there to take theme pictures with Vlad in the Impaler's Forest. I would....but then I am demented like that.
heh, I just had a nasty thoguht about Disney animated robotics getting involved for the dead on the poles...how freakin' sweet.,

I heard all about it last week on the History Channel, all about Vlad the Impaler and the castle, etc. I'm sure it will be on again, because I've seen it several times now.

We do not have a Dracula Amusement Park!
And yes! The legend with Dracula is real, just that he wasn't a vampire, he was a human!
And the first vampire tale ever told!

If they open it in California, I will fly there. Come on, I flew from Ecuador, South America to California just for Legoland in Oceanside, CA.
When I got there, it was closed due to the bad weather.
I would not mind going up there again. I love California.
