Information on the Montery Jazz Festival?

When I hear or see "Monterey Jazz Festival", I first think of Janis Joplin. She was pretty much unknown and just blew everyone away. Then I think of Eric Burdon and the Animals, wrote a song about that festival, down In
"Monterey".
