You'll learn as you go along. I used to work at a shoe store, and before I started, I knew absolutely nothing about shoes. They provide you with some training, and the rest of it you pick up with time. You'll be surprised at how quickly you start becoming knowledgeable. It sounds like a good opportunity, you should take it if you get the chance.

What do you have to lose? You may find out that you enjoy the work.
Be honest, be on time, work hard, and try to be helpful to the customers and to the manager.
Even if this doesn't turn out to be the start of a great career as a book seller, it will be good experience. You may learn that you don't want to have anything to do with selling books or you may learn something.
Good luck!

Go for it!!! You won't know much about any industry you first enter into but your determination for success will get you there. You will quickly learn the more popular titles and there are lots of website resources to help you help your customers. In time you can get to the library and get copies of publications like "Library Journal" which will give you reviews on the up and coming titles that customers will be asking about.
