I've never heard that. I stereotype Kentucky as being full of horse breeders (Kentucky Derby). Now, I've heard of Arkansas and West Virginia being stereotyped with the incest thing...

I live in Kentucky and I have heard that all of my life--the stereotype. I think it is just an Appalachian stereotype though. And what is more interesting is that the Appalachian Mountains run all the way to NY almost and those people who make fun of us, are often including themselves in the joke and don't even realize it. :)

What is a bunch of incest? Incest is an activity, not a thing. But they do say that intelligence regresses through incest.
Besides, I thought West Virginia was famous for that.

I heard it was Tennessee.
Best guess.
The stories come from northern area's, since they still view the south as hillbillies, and it was from the backwoods area's that you got the stories of incest and inbreeding.
I think, if I remember rightly, that it was stories about the Appalachian mountain area's, which can be pretty inaccessible.

i live in Ky & have all of my life (except 4 years at University) and the only incestual phenomon i was ever exposed was while i had a summer job at a nursing home during college & that was a patient diagnosis because she had something seriously wrong with her!
