To quote Madonna from the '80s: "Don't go for second best, baby, put your love to the test; you know, you know you've got to make him express how he feels and maybe then you'll know your love is real."
That song really struck a chord with me when I was a teen, and I have lived by the principle of not settling for second best ever since. If you have self-confidence, self-esteem and self-worth, then you SHOULD expect a lot from "guys" (meaning the boyfriend/husband/man in your life). I am worth it. I expect a lot, and in return, my husband gets a lot of good treatment and respect in return. This is the foundation to a loving and successful relationship that will endure.

Girls would like guys to be more like girls. This is the problem. A boyfriend is not a girlfriend. They do not particularly like feeling close through constant chit-chat, sharing feelings, shopping, and crying in mushy movies!
So girls, love your guys for being sporty-minded, somewhat smelly, quiet on the feeling front, generally rather unmysterious, and most of all, leaving the seat up in the bathroom.
Vive les boys!!!! Love the boys...just the way they are...

I think that both men and women have unrealistic expectations of each other. We both want the "best" and we feel gyped when the other falls short of our expectations. I think the best relationships are the ones where the partners appreciate each other.

"just"? as in only? as in the only thing they do?
hmm... I like to answer questions in a way that make people analyze their own statements, as well as their underlying assumptions.
I'd like to say, you've lumped [all]girls into one category by not using a qualifier (like the word "some" before girls)
I also like to leave a link to my papers about gender and gender roles etc. You just might raise your eyebrows. ^_~

I expect as much of the guy as he expects of me.
If my guy wants to be lazy...he better be savin' a spot for me on the sofa...'Cause I will definiatly fight for the remote control, of the T.V
If my guy wants to work hard...then kudos...We'll both work hard.
I expect nothing more than I expect of myself.
