I think it really depends on how much money you want to spend, especially considering that at this age, they are likely to outgrow the jeans before they are paid off!

I have this little secret, I'll let you in on as long as you promise not to tell my 13 year old son.

I go to the local thrift store and buy Abercrombie and fitch, aeropostal, guess, gap, you name it name brands, at $5 - $7 each. I bring them home, wash them and put them in his closet. He is none the wiser and couldn't be happier to have these great jeans that somebody simply grew out of!

I got this idea when he dragged me to Areopostal, and the current styles are all worn looking with holes in them. I thought to myself, "You could get jeans from the thrift store in better shape than these!" But the truth is, at the thrift store, someone else spent $50 on the jeans, their kid wore them for a year and he outgrew them.

I started looking at the jeans in the thrift store years ago, when I found a great pattern to make a purse out of an old pair of jeans! Here I am years later, still going there and finding great stuff for a fraction of the price!

When Ido buy New jeans, Old navy, JC Penney, Pacific Sun, Areopostal and the GAP are all great places to shop for a 12 year old!
