Pawn shops dun actually buy in jade. All that they will pay for is the gold that comes with it. I've gotten it appraised at a few shops already. The value is around S$1K-S$2K. The only problem is getting a buyer as there ain't many shops tat buy in old jade pieces.

I understand about getting it appraised before selling. Are there any antique shops that anybody know of that buys in jade? Have approached a few, but all of them only selll items and do not buy items.

Have a appraisal done on it before you try to sell, then check with antique shops, or put an ad in the paper. A jeweler, is a good place to begin. Someone you know you can trust.

Selling Jade

Yes, I have an idea. First get it appraised and get a certificate of it's value and provenance. Then find a consignment shop that takes a reasonable cut and try to sell it there.
Or, there's always ebay.

Jade does not have much resale value. If your piece is nicely crafted, you might wish to visit some antique shops for a valuation.

Jewellery shops may ask you for cut-throat discounts.

Jade is a semi precious stone. I'm afraid you can't sell it any where unless to friend or relative but you won't be able to get 1K to 2K back.

Go to Ebay if you want good deals and good price. But you need to have a good picture of your jade product and a swell write up.

Best of luck !

No shop is willing to buy it because no one wears jade anymore.
