Alot of people pierce their own ears or have a friend who doesnt really know what they are doing. But no you cant hit a nerve because its all cartilage (sp?) but you might disform it if you dont know what you are doing. but for the most part doing your earlobe yourself isnt a big deal but i wouldnt do the top of the ear i would get that done by a professional

I did my own ears about 16 years ago when I was a young teen. My mom wouldn't let me get a second set of holes in my ears so I did it myself. I only wore the earrings for about 6 months and never wore them in those holes again. Now 16 years later, the holes are still there and look stupid because one is two close to my first hole in that ear. The holes never go away if done in certain parts of your ear. Either be very careful to be getting the holes exactly where you want them or spend the small amount of money to have it done professionally.

This is a very foolish thing to do. Seek out a professional to help you. The piercing will then be done properly and with the right equipment so you won't risk infection or worse.

I have heard that you can hit a nerve and it can make your face go numb. I pierced mine up to the caritlage though and I never hit a nerve. Just don't do it so close in.

you cant hit a nerve but it is very dangerous. especially if youre doing it by yourself. make sure to use a disinfected stud and try to get a friend to be with you. my friend pierced her tongue a week ago and almost slit it in half. make sure youre doing it right!!!

Good Luck!

I don't think so but hold a lighter up to the needle after you clean it before you pierce it. Also, my piercer told me not to use peroxide cause it takes longer to heal. Use dial soap. Peroxide is something ppl used to use but they've found it's not good.

I don't know about the anatomy but have you had a tetanus shot in the past 10 years? Its a bad way to go.
