Iraq was not affiliated with the terrorists that attacked the US. We are in Iraq because Bush used terrorism and lies about WMD to invade Iraq. He said before he was elected, in documented speeches, that he was going to remove Saddam from power, because "he tried to kill my daddy" (Saddam did try to assasinate Bush I in Kuwait). Bush II just used 9/11 as a reason to go in and attack Iraq. We knew they had no weapons, we had inspected them to death, and bombed the country for 10 years as well. I was ashamed of my fellow Americans for ever supporting this war, and ignoring the facts.

Hello Dawn...Had you not forgotten the recent events, you'd know that the LIE for going to Iraq was based on WMD. Even the lying Bush administration knew better to associate 9/11 to Iraq, and here you are referring to it as punishment for 9/11, and by the way, I hear that by conservative estimates about 60000 Iraqis have been killed, most of them civilians with quite a number of children, too. As democracy the Iraqis now have an American puppet as president, and the public wealth of Iraq, which means the oil, too, is being stolen...And look at what's happened to Lebanon by inhuman Jews...and regarding 9/11, there is VALID documentation showing that not only it wasn't prevented from taking place, but that it was mainly an inside job.

I'm not surprised that you may be confused. First the reason given was that Saddam had WMDs. Then he was supposed to have connection to AlKaida. Then they said He was importing nukes material to build atomic bombs. Then he had to go because he was a dictator murdering his own people. He actually did that, because they planned to murder him, assisted by CIA. Selfdefence and "preemptive action" is only permitted for U.S. and the "willing"! Then they came up with the "democracy" bit.
None of that was the real reason. Actually there are a number of real reasons why Saddam had to go. Just ask the lobbyists telling the U.S. government what to do - OR ELSE!
One reason was oil lobby and the fact that Saddam started to trade oil in Euros instead of U$. Then there was the Zoinist and right wing Christian fundamentalist lobby claiming that Saddam (and Islam!) was a threat to Israel. Then there was the weapons industry lobby who is sitting on all that arsenal that needed testing. and so on. We'll never know all the real reasons, but the ones given are fake.

It is my understanding that our troops are there because our President stated that no one would be allowed to terrorize our country without consequences. He went after the terrorists with full power. I still believe in him, I am also very sorry that people don't seem to remember the true reason. It started as a hunt for Ben laden and now they are trying to teach the Iraqi people how to live without a dictator. That is my understanding. It surely is very, very confusing. I blame the news media for a lot of this. Most of the news media don't like Mr. Bush because he won't give them the thumbs up on some reports he feels should be confidential for our own safety.

Its a democracy thing. They think if they turn Iraq into a happy fun loving democracy the other islamic countries will follow suit and they'll reject the nasty extremists and we'll all live happily ever after. However, the nasty extremists are willing to kill anyone who gets in the way of their idea of turning the world into one big happy islamic state. So its all gonna end happily one way or the other, isnt it?
