Save your scanned file in TIFF format unless your scanner software can save direct to PDF. If that is true then skip all of the next stuff.

1. Start your graphics processing software. For this example I
have chosen Adobe Photoshop.

2. Open a TIFF image document

3. Select from main menu "File"->"Print"

4. Select Printer "Virtual PDF Printer"

5. If you need to adjust PDF generation options, click the "Property" button on the right

6. Click "OK"

7. A dialog will pop up, assign the folder and file name of the PDF document to be generated

8. Congratulations! You have converted TIFF to PDF document now.

Have fun but be safe!

I'm guessing you probably have Adobe Acrobat Reader, which is only able to read pdf files, not create them. If you want to create a lot of pdf files, you need to get one of the other Adobe Acrobat programs like Adobe Acrobat Professional (US $449), Adobe Acrobat Standard (US $299), or Adobe Acrobat Capture (US $250). You can read over a list of the features of each on the Adobe website. http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/

If you only want to create 1 to 5 pdf files, here's a free web-based trial that will take care of it for you, and the service is offered with a subscription if that would suit your needs. http://createpdf.adobe.com/?v=AFP

Check the website for your scanner's manufacturer and see if they have any downloads available that do this.

Also check to see if the OCR software you are using allows you to save in this format. The software that came with my scanner allows scans to be saved in different file formats such as jpg, bmp and pdf.

I don't remember if MS Office allows you to save in pdf format.
