Where do you live?
There is some theory with New Age. Years ago it was taught that physical beauty was evidence of a soul working its way outward to expression. In other words everybody would end up looking beautiful or handsome in the progression to consciousness.
A couple of generations of beautiful, clueless, bimbos and preening male models has pretty well destroyed that teaching.

1 word. Make-up. I mean at my school, ( only 200 people) there are only about 6 cute guys, but like 20 pretty girls, i think its cuz we wear make-up.
