I was 28 when I got mine. Teens don't need them. Your parents should know where you are at all times. Unless you have a job and can pay for it your selves.

I got mine when I was 18. (I'm now 20) It was my dads idea actually. I had to pay for the phone and he paid the rest and the bill until I got a job. And he wanted me to get it because he felt better knowing I had one. Just sit your parents down and explain to them that you would like a cell phone. Tell them that sometimes you need to get ahold of them. And that you would feel safer if you had one. And tell them that they could feel better knowing that if you needed to get ahold of them you could and if they really needed to get ahold of you they could just call. Explain that you won't use it in school or go over your minutes and be mature about it. Try to talk to them in a calm manner, which means no whining but all my friends have cell phones. Because parents don't care what all your friends are doing or have. And if they say no, just leave it at that, I know it might be hard to not throw a bit of a fit, but thats not going to help. If thats the case you need to take no and walk out of the room. Who knows maybe they will think wow she handled no in a mature way, maybe she could handle a cell phone?13 is a young age to have a cell phone. If your going to the mall and movies a lot with your friends then I don't see a problem with you getting one. Go online and check out the best deals, what company will be the best in your area and look into pre-paid phones and hit your parents with information, it will look like you gave this much thought! Goodluck! :)

I was 17 when I got one, it was a clunker Nokia. Not a whole lot of people had them in high school. We had to use the payphone. It's untimately up to your parents whether or not you get one since you aren't old enough to get a typical job to pay the bill for yourself.
Don't compare what you have to what other people have too much, though. Try to look at the bigger picture and what your blessings are in life. Ok, your friends might have a phone and you may not, but what difference does it make in the long run?

I'm 15 and just got my first cell phone. Not having one is not the end of the world. All friends had them so I always just borrowed one. Cell phones are expensive, so I chip in to help pay the monthly bill. But getting a job at 13 is hard.

yeah cell phones are the craze LOL
I was 18 when I got one when I could afford to buy it and pay the payments on it. I got one atfirst because my parents hated my friends calling all the time but I had to pay and still do BTW.
You are a little young for a phone, however in this technological world it really is a good idea to have one.
I would say that it is time for you to get one, if the money and responsibilty is there.
Show your Mom that you are responsible, by if you get one, always taking care of it, always answering when she calls, never going over your bill mins or text msgs and by being nice to her because of her kindness! That's all I have to say... persaude her by telling her that it will make her life easier because she will always be able to get ahold of you! Best of luck!

i didn't get one until I was 17. I had to get a job and buy my own. I think if you really want one you need to get a baby siting job or something. We have Cricket here in Utah, it is a pre paid phone. like unlimited minutes and texts for 40$ a month. Mabey try getting information on these types of things. If you get a prepaid phone you do not need mom or dad to sign a contract.

I got my first one a little bit before I turned 11. I didn't start bringing it with me constantly until I was 12 or 13. Now I get crazy when I don't have it in my pocket or in my bag.
