the Kalakadoon people of far north Queensland, possibly over 40 000 years old as a society had a very high social structure including trading posts and the granite from their mine was used as a currency in their trading. I would suggest that the Kalakadoons certainly did invent currency in Australia. as for the rest of the world I am not sure.... can anyone beat the Kalakadoons?

I believe it was either the egyptions or the roman empire. I do know the first form of currency was salt.
