I'm a complete beginer looking to get a good foundation in Acting for film and television. The one month intensive courses seem like a good idea. But the only ones I have found are the New York film Academy and the Acting Corps. I'm just wondering if these are any good. Any Advice would be greately appreciated! Thank you!

I have heard that The New York Film Academy is not the best school to attend, if you want to be a serious film-maker.

The school will not give you as intesive a film background, as you would get at a University. If you want to study film-making seriously, enroll at New York University or Columbia University.

NYU: http://filmtv.tisch.nyu.edu/page/home.html

When I started acting, I worked on films shot by students of NYU and Columbia. Students from both schools were serious and professional regarding their work.

You will better off taking acting lessons with an acting teacher, not going to film school. Ask your actor friends for the names of their acting teachers. If you are in NY, I can recommend a teacher, or, you can look in Backstage Newspaper.

AMDA: the American Musical and Dramatic Academy could be a good place, it's two years in either New York or L.A. and they have two programs one for people who wnat to go into musicaltheater and another of movies and television.
